If anyone had told me that working in a Lagos bank would be like signing up for a reality TV show packed with stress, drama, and questionable life choices, I would have laughed and asked them to stop exaggerating.

But after a few weeks on the job, I realised the truth. Banking in Lagos is not for the weak. It is a daily grind.

I, Onome Eferogho, a fresh graduate from Babcock University, never imagined that my first job would be this chaotic.

I thought I would be wearing nice suits, working in a beautiful office, and handling important financial deals. Instead, I found myself hiding to avoid my creepy manager, dealing with all sorts of crazy customers, dodging office politics, and watching my dreams of early retirement fade away with every stressful day.

But in the middle of the madness, I have learned a few things, and I have written them down in my memoirs. So, this is my life in the trenches of Lagos banking.

Brace yourself. It’s going to be a wild ride.
