Moveee has launched Culture Narratives, a new quarterly digital publication dedicated to deeply personal essays on culture, identity, and modern life. Submissions for the inaugural issue are now open, due in 3 days.
Culture Narratives publishes 8–10 long-form first-person essays per issue, exploring the intersection of private lives and the culture that surrounds us. The publication is focused on capturing the realities of modern life in Africa and the diaspora, and its themes include identity, personal ambition, financial realities, relationships, mental health, migration, creative work, and the tension between heritage and modernity. Essays that examine the ways culture has shaped a writer’s worldview, through film, books, music, art, or other cultural touchstones are also very welcome.
Moveee is looking for reflective narrative writing that is rooted in real-life experience: essays that are emotionally honest, thoughtfully constructed, and capable of engaging readers who appreciate depth and cultural complexity. Submissions should be original and unpublished, telling a specific story from the writer’s life while offering broader insight into culture, identity, and personal growth. Essays should be between 1,500 and 3,500 words. Selected authors will receive a $10 honorarium.
Submissions can be made via the link on moveee.co.
Deadline: 10 April 2026.
