One thing about Dr. Eghosa Imasuen, he carries the life of a writer, a doctor, and a literary institution-builder all at once, and he does it with such grace that when a milestone like this arrives, it feels earned in the deepest possible way. The author, medical doctor, and founder of Narrative Landscape Press turned 50 this week! And he stepped into this big birthday with photos that are giving exactly what a half-century well-lived looks like.

A day before his birthday, Eghosa took to social media with honest, warm, and wonderstruck words: “It’s been good. A good half century. A good year. Published books I’m proud of. Getting published. Travelling. Sorry, I’m wool-gathering. I don’t know what to say. Beyond expressing my thanks to my family. And to my friends.”

Dr. Imasuen is the author To Saint Patrick and Fine Boys, two novels that are now considered classics of contemporary Nigerian literature. As co-founder of Narrative Landscape, Imasuen is also at the helm of one of Nigeria’s most influential publishing houses. Narrative Landscape Press is known to many readers for fan favorites like Zainab Uche Imam’s Love, Lagos & Other Complications and the Nigerian edition of Oyinkan Braithwaite’s My Sister, the Serial Killer, but the press also publishes Chimamanda Adichie’s books in Nigeria and recently released Making It Big, the bestselling memoir by Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola.

His team at Narrative Landscape Press made sure the day didn’t pass quietly. They surprised him with a celebration and posted a tribute that said it all: “Happy 50th birthday to the incredible and dedicated Dr Eghosa Imasuen, our co-founder and business development director! We wish you good success, prosperity, and dreams come true.” That is exactly the kind of community a man builds when he spends decades showing up for others.

Happy 50th, Dr. Imasuen. Here’s to fifty more years of fine books, good medicine, and everything you haven’t done yet. See his birthday photos below!
