On Saturday 14th July 2018, TBC BOOK Club celebrated its 2-year anniversary with a panel of celebrated authors; Yvonne Owour (Kenya), Hawa Jande Golakai (Liberia), Zukiswa Wanner (South Africa) and Niq Mhlongo (South Africa).

The book club is an initiative of Text Book Centre, the leading chain of bookstores in Kenya. It celebrated two years since its inception in 2016 and boasts of a membership in excess of 3,500 members.

The club holds monthly meetings in Nairobi, Kenya and predominantly features books from African authors and authors from the African diaspora.

I hold a doctorate in English from Duke University and recently joined the Marquette University English faculty as an Assistant Professor. I love teaching African fiction and contemporary British novels. Brittle Paper is the virtual space/station where I play and experiment with ideas on how to reinvent African fiction and literary culture.
