Sometime last year, Akwaeke Emezi announced that they were publishing their first non-fiction book, Dear Senthuran: A Black Spirit Memoir.

The book is scheduled to be released on June 8, and Riverhead Books, the book’s publisher, has committed to centering Black voices in its publicity campaign.

In an Instagram post revealing the book’s cover, Riverhead Books invites “Black media, bookstagrammers, librarians, and bookstore staff who are interested in reading Dear Senthuran to reach out to us via DM.”

Emezi also shared an Instagram post describing their experiences in publishing the memoir and expressing gratitude to their agents and Riverhead Books for committing to this campaign.
