Welcome to the new year, Brittle Paper readers! 2022 is set to continue with the release of some exciting African literature, including novels (of all genres), memoirs, short story collections, scholarly monographs, and more! Here we present sixty-three titles that we’re looking forward to.

Although many of these titles are slated for release during the first half of the year, we also have some entries for the latter part of the year! There are three (!) titles from Akwaeke Emezi, the third installment of Nnedi Okorafor’s series, a short story collection from Moroccan feminist icon Malika Moustadraf, and so much more. If you’re still putting together your 22 for 2022 tbr list, our 63 Anticipated African Books of 2022 is the perfect place to start for all things African literature!

Be on the lookout for ways you can read with us this year — an exciting adventure featuring some of these titles!

Note: all descriptions are excerpted from summaries provided by the books’ publishers. Also note that not all the links go to pre-order or buy pages, as the publication of these books are much later in the year. We will updated as pre-order and buy links become available.

Happy reading!
