Noisy Streetss is accepting submissions for the fourth edition of its annual storytelling series, Love in Detty December, from June 15 to August 15, 2026. The series was born from a simple idea: to explore what it means to fall in, or out of, love during Africa’s December, a season unlike any other, marked by the scent of harmattan, gridlocked traffic, the return of IJGBs, and an endless stream of parties fuelled by excitement, nostalgia, and unrestrained desire. Four volumes in, it has become one of the continent’s more distinctive recurring literary projects.
The first three editions produced the anthology Ponmo is a Bird That Has No Place in a Cultured Culinary Sky & Other Stories, which has sold and distributed 1,000 copies across Africa and the United Kingdom. Noisy Streetss was founded by Modupe Daramola on a mission to tell the authentic stories of young Nigerians and Africans, publishing them both within the continent and for a global readership. Vol. 4 will become the press’s third print anthology.
For this edition, Noisy Streetss is seeking fiction and creative nonfiction from African writers at all experience levels, based anywhere in the world. Stories must be rooted in Africa through setting, character, or experience, and should fall between 4,500 and 5,000 words. Selected writers will receive financial compensation and royalties. Submit by 15 August 2026.
