Nigerian author Marvellous Michael Anson, known to readers as Marve, is heading out on tour to celebrate the release of Heir of the Shadow, Book Two of her Yoruba-inspired epic fantasy trilogy Firstborn of the Sun, out on 26 November 2026. The adult epic fantasy romance returns to the Kingdom of Oru, where the exile L’ore’s deadly, icy shadow magic has been discovered and the Crown will stop at nothing to eliminate her.
The tour begins in Lagos, where Marve will make a panel appearance at the Aké Arts and Book Festival from 19 to 22 November. It then moves to London for the main event on 26 November, the public book launch at Main Character Books, billed as an evening with Elodie Harper. A private launch party is also planned in London on 24 November, with tickets available only through an Instagram giveaway. From there Marve will be in conversation with fellow authors across the UK: A. Y. Chao and Venetia Constantine at Bad Girl Books in Oxford on 25 November, Annabel Campbell and Tendai Huchu in Glasgow on 30 November (venue to be confirmed), Hannah Kaner and L. R. Lam at Argonaut Books in Edinburgh on 1 December, and a conversation on fantasy with M. H. Ayinde and Rogba Payne at Afrori Books in Brighton on 3 December.
Readers who pre-order Heir of the Shadow through one of the participating independent bookshops will receive exclusive character art from the world of Oru and a signed bookplate. Tickets and the full list of stores are available on Marve’s official site.
Congratulations to Marve on the release of Heir of the Shadow!
