At an intimate event held in Lagos, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie read from her latest book Notes on Grief and reflected on the grieving process.

The event was held on January 15th at the Alliance Française (Mike Adenuga Centre) in Lagos, Nigeria. The event was hosted by Alliance Française and Adichie’s Nigerian publisher Narrative Landscape Press.

Adichie was introduced by Dr. Eghosa Imasuen (Narrative Landscape Press). She then read excerpts from the book, responded to questions, and signed copies of the book.

In an Instagram post, Adichie thanked the attendees for sharing their stories of grief. She also reflected on the beauty of the event, how it honors “that African way of mourning: collectively, publicly. The tears felt calming and cleansing.”
